Elegant Interior Designs Named One of Philly’s Best

I’m so happy to share with all of you the great news that Elegant Interior Designs was chosen by the design site Freshome as one of the Best Interior Designers in Philadelphia!

Elegant Interior Designs was one of 20 selected out of more than a hundred interior design firms in the city, and we’re thrilled to be in such great company.

From the article:

“Elegant Interior Designs, LLC, an award-winning interior design firm, has served the Greater Philadelphia area and beyond since 2003. The company, based in Ambler, provides residential and commercial clients with unique, warm, inviting living spaces that reflect their personal taste and lifestyle….

[Pam Kofsky’s] work appears in Philadelphia Style Magazine, House & Home Magazine, and Window Fashion Vision Magazine.”

Companies were judged, the website said, based on “multiple factors including their experience, customer satisfaction, responsiveness, and quality of work.” All of the designers the editors chose “can help create the look and feel you desire, no matter the style or age of your home.”

It’s about you, not us!

We’re obviously honored to be recognized by the site, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t use this opportunity to thank all of our valued clients and referral partners. Your testimonials, your feedback, and your support clearly played a vital role. This recognition is as much about you as it is about us!

Freshome calls itself “the go-to destination for anyone who is passionate about design, architecture, luxury, travel, lifestyle, and creativity in the home. Those who visit the site are seeking inspiration to help them on their journey to creating their dream home as well as practical solutions to the problems that their homes may present.”

As always, I’m ready to hear your goals and help bring peace and sanity to your home through the power of inspired design. Working closely with you, I promise to marry that award-winning vision with your personal taste and lifestyle!

Elegant Interior Designs Wins “Best of Houzz 2017”

Best of Houzz 2017Houzz is an online convenient store for all home-improvement projects with an interactive platform that allows users to share ideas, reviews, and photos with the rest of the Houzz community.

Each year, Houzz compiles a survey asking the 40 million monthly users to recognize those businesses with superior platforms, with categories ranging from homebuilders, architects, landscapers, and interior designers.

The Houzz awards are presented through three different categories: Design, Service and Photography, and Customer Service. These awards are prestigious as the criteria for winning are thorough: Winners have the most popular work, in addition to superb recent ratings and client reviews.

Elegant Interior Designs works by the motto: Forget “Yes” and “No.” We Aim for “Wow!” It is no surprise, then, that clients were wowed by the customer service. Since 2003, founder and designer Pamela Kofsky has been sharing her passion for interior design with clients. This award represents the hard work, time, and effort Pam enlists in each and every project. Elegant Interior Designs is extremely proud and honored to be recognized as the best in the industry.

On winning this award, Kofsky says, “Customer service is such an important part of my business because it is my goal to constantly provide positive experiences for clients. Winning this award means I am achieving my goal, and will continue doing so as long as there is a room to redesign or a project to plan.”

Elegant Interior Designs Wins Kitchen Design/Build Award

Kitchen Design/Build Award

Last weekend I was extremely honored to receive the Contractor of the Year (CotY) Meritorious Award for Kitchen Design/Remodel, from the Bucks-Mont Chapter of NARI.  I was recognized in the category of projects falling within a $100,001-$150,000.

The CotY Awards are judged by industry experts based on each entrant’s “Before and After” photographs and project description.  Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty, and entry presentation.

The kitchen I entered for consideration was not very functional for a gourmet chef.  It had dark food prep spaces, a small cook top, insufficient ventilation, and a cluttered pantry.  Per the client’s wish list, I incorporated natural materials, rich wood cabinetry, intricate moldings, and super lighting, along with a travertine floor and backsplash to deliver a functional space with a Tuscan flare.

The result is a much more organized, efficient space, with ample room for a variety of gourmet appliances, including an in-drawer microwave oven.  The new kitchen has become the show piece of the home.

Our award-winning design also received the CotY Top Honor in Green Remodeling for its energy-efficient features.  Green Project Recognition standards cover an array of items, including site design, home performance, insulation and air sealing, lighting, material selection, and more.

It is always wonderful to be recognized for my work by others in the industry, but the greatest satisfaction is the reaction I get from clients when I bring their visions to life.

Elegant Interior Designs Talks Fall Decorating with House & Home Magazine

EID_HouseAndHome-Cover+Article png 2 MB

Fall is coming, which means our outdoor entertaining will likely be around a fire pit. But there’s more to enjoying your outdoor space in the crisp weather than stoking the flames.

I had the privilege of being interviewed in the July issue of House & Home Magazine about fall decorating…both inside and out. It’s a great time of year that’s associated with harvest and Halloween, and your choice of colors, flowers, and accessories will probably reflect that. I offered the editors of House & Home some general tips, which you can read by double-clicking the article.

While I provided ideas that could fit in a six-paragraph article, there are many, many opportunities to turn your indoor or outdoor living space into a relaxing, aesthetically pleasing retreat to host friends, sip coffee, enjoy a hot tub or dive into a book. Everyone’s space, tastes, and sensibilities are different. Some things are simple, others a bit more involved. Fortunately, Elegant Interior Designs is an expert at assessing a space, talking with a client, and keeping an eye on the budget in order to create, not the perfect space, but the perfect space for you.

I’m very excited to be featured in House & Home. But I’m even more excited to have the chance to work with you as the days begin to get shorter and the temperatures get cooler.

PRESS RELEASE: EID Award-Winning Design

ida red carpetMay 10, 2013, Philadelphia, PA – Pamela Kofsky of Elegant Interior Designs won two Interior Design Awards, Honorable Mention Award in the Singular Space Category and the People’s Choice Award at the 3rd Annual Interior Design Awards hosted by the Pennsylvania East Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

The IDA’s are Philadelphia’s only interior design competition open to all those involved in the design community, including Interior Designers, Architectural and Design Firms (commercial and residential), Kitchen and Bath Designers, and Interior Decorators with a total of 19 categories for entry. In a point system, each category had an opportunity for 1st place or Honorable Mention, however, not all categories had a winner.  There were a total of 59 entries and 14 designers/firms won awards.

Voting was conducted by a team of six industry professionals who evaluated all submissions based on a point system including before and after images, content, concept statement, supporting images, color composition, scale and proportion, effective use of lighting, materials, furnishings and detail, and overall project.

In a social media showdown for votes, tallying close to 700 votes each, Pamela Kofsky also won the People’s Choice award along with Edwardo Ardiles of Studio Edo.  The competition for this category was so close and votes were still coming in at the last hour.  The judges decided that both designers deserved to win the “People’s Choice” Award.

NARI Panelist – Pamela Kofsky of Elegant Interior Designs

In January 2013, I was one of 3 business owners on a discussion panel for NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) on Building a Design-Build Team for Small Companies. The topic was centered around how can you market and operate effectively as a Design-Build company if you don’t have an in-house designer or architect. The panelist shared ideas and experiences about the benefits and potential pitfalls involved.  Panelists were Brian Martin, Builder and Owner of The Master’s Design Build Group; Eric Van Reed, Architect, and Owner of Creative Design Associates and Pamela Kofsky, Interior Designer and Owner of Elegant Interior Designs.

Many people assume that interior design is an afterthought in the process of building and designing a home when in fact it should be one of the first things you consider.  To help you better understand “Why involve an interior designer early in the building process?”  I have compiled this list which includes a few points from the panel discussion:

  • Window Placement:  Do you ever think that a window is too close to a corner, out of place, or awkward in a space? What about when you were looking for a window treatment? Did that make it better or worse? Was there enough space for a window treatment?  This problem could be easily avoided if the designer was involved before the construction of the home. Even moving the window as much as 1’ could make a big difference and could allow enough room for window treatments.
  • Furniture Layout: can be determined prior to construction to make sure the room addition is large enough to accommodate the desired use of the room.
  • Accents and Product Selection: Assistance with flooring, lighting, tiles, backsplash, plumbing fixtures, wall, ceiling, and trim colors can be determined early in the process and help the contractor and homeowner with a smooth and stress-free construction process.
  • Electrical and Plumbing locations! Forget wishing the outlet was closer or using an extension cord –our floor plan can lay that out ahead of time.
  • Improved Communication:  Seeing the big picture early by the homeowner allows the designers to work with a design-build team to provide a single path of communication to the client and assist them with a comprehensive plan for the project. In the end, everyone wins!

Will you now include an interior designer on your design team during the initial planning phase? Don’t forget having an integrated team allows for the work to be completed faster, more efficiently, and with fewer problems.
