Last weekend I was extremely honored to receive the Contractor of the Year (CotY) Meritorious Award for Kitchen Design/Remodel, from the Bucks-Mont Chapter of NARI.  I was recognized in the category of projects falling within a $100,001-$150,000.

The CotY Awards are judged by industry experts based on each entrant’s “Before and After” photographs and project description.  Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty, and entry presentation.

The kitchen I entered for consideration was not very functional for a gourmet chef.  It had dark food prep spaces, a small cook top, insufficient ventilation, and a cluttered pantry.  Per the client’s wish list, I incorporated natural materials, rich wood cabinetry, intricate moldings, and super lighting, along with a travertine floor and backsplash to deliver a functional space with a Tuscan flare.

The result is a much more organized, efficient space, with ample room for a variety of gourmet appliances, including an in-drawer microwave oven.  The new kitchen has become the show piece of the home.

Our award-winning design also received the CotY Top Honor in Green Remodeling for its energy-efficient features.  Green Project Recognition standards cover an array of items, including site design, home performance, insulation and air sealing, lighting, material selection, and more.

It is always wonderful to be recognized for my work by others in the industry, but the greatest satisfaction is the reaction I get from clients when I bring their visions to life.
